"At the going down of the sun . . ."
The line from the Ode of Remembrance is particular apposite for this picture of the soldier atop the war memorial at Haxey, taken just before sunset. The direction of the light brings out the relief of the statue while the reddening light brings some warmth to the white stone. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.
