Manor Court House
Former courthouse in Epworth Marketplace with the market cross http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1158642 in the foreground.
Now offices and library, it was built 1802-3 for Alexander Johnson, Lord of the Manor as the Court House

Time for a quickie
Inside the Queens Head, Epworth. We passed this pub as we was sweeping the Peatlands Way, a 50mile walk from Thorne. We only went in for one but ended up having two.

The Manor Court House
A grade II listed building dating from 1803 and now providing business, retail and community facilities. It is owned by the Epworth Mechanics' Institute Library who occupy the upper floor.

Market Cross
The base of a medieval Market Cross in Epworth Marketplace, re-set in 1806. A plaque proclaims that "John Wesley (1703-1791) Preached from these steps on many occasions"

Epworth Market Place
To the right of the picture is the base of the medieval market cross where John Wesley preached. The cross stands in front of the Old Court House of 1802. Originally the arched ground floors bays formed an open arcade but they were filled-in during the late c19. In addition to Small World Travel the building houses a Mechanics Library.
