The Shell Guide to Lincolnshire says of Owston Ferry:- "A well-built village. The views over the river, at the bottom of the village street, are like a Dutch painting. The church is basically medieval, but has early 19th-century Gothic additions; the roof, sanctuary, Baptistry, east window and series of Gothick monuments all belong to this period." The Buildings of England: Lincolnshire says of the church:- "Perpendicular west tower, ashlar faced. To the north a very different view - all yellow brick of 1840."

St Martins Church, Owston Ferry
The west front picked out in late afternoon sun. The church dates largely from the 14/15th centuries, although there is some earlier work. Coming at this time of year was definitely a good ploy - once the leaves are on the trees, the church is lrgely concealed.
