Norton railway station (site), Yorkshire
Opened in 1848 on the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway's line from Doncaster to Knottingley, and closed in 1947.
View north west towards Knottingley and Wakefield. The "Swiss cottage style" station building is prominent.

Former railway station, Norton
Opened in 1848 an closed in 1948 though the line is still busy with freight and the occasional passenger train. The style is similar in character to Womersley Image though the detailing is very different.

Station House, Norton
Local passenger service on this line disappeared as early as 1948. The house presumably dates from the opening of the line in 1848.

The site of Norton Station
As this closed in 1948 it is hardly surprising that there is now no evidence for this apart from the station house just visible on the left.

Norton Signal Box
A very modern box (built 1980) replacing an earlier one on the near side of the crossing. Originally built to control access to the former Askern Colliery, it now simply a gate box and looks after this and the nearby Askern level crossings.
