All Saints Church, Frickley with Clayton
The church dates back to the 11th century, although much of the present church is 13th century. It is known as ‘the church in the fields’ as it stood alone by 1650 as most of the houses in the ancient village of Frickley had gone. The black death of 1349-50 severely affected the area and the nearby village gradually disappeared leaving All Saints rather stranded.
