All together there are 275 WW2 servicemen and women buried in Scartho Road cemetery. These are the ones who died on home soil. Scartho Road cemetery has 566 Commonwealth War Graves which are all tended to a high standard. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) honours the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and Second World Wars, their work commemorates the war dead, from building and maintaining cemeteries and memorials at 23,000 locations in more than 150 countries and territories. As well as 248 British, there are 15 German, 5 Canadian, 3 New Zealand, 1 Australian, 1 Italian and 1 Norwegian buried here. Of those 105 were in the Navy, 84 in the Army, and 57 in the Royal Air Force and 28 in the Merchant Navy.
