Jenkins Factory no more
Two new industrial units have been built on the left very close to the railway line.Further housing is planned on the right. A light dusting of snow and very cold temperatures have made the estate road very slippery. The snow is not even melting on the roofs of the houses.

Factory no more
Once Jenkins engineering works now more houses are going up fast. Houses along London Road can still be seen. This will soon change as more new houses are built. This site used to be where the Great central railways locomotive shed was. The locomotive shed served the Lincoln line and was demolished soon after closure in the 1960s.

The building work goes on even in the snow and ice
More foundations have been dug ready and footings put in for more houses to be built here on the former factory site. Before the factory this was the site of the Great Central railway's steam shed. A medium sized building was here to store locomotives in-between duties. There were two such sheds in Retford, the other was the Great Northern railway's opposite the station, this shed actually survives in industrial use.
