Burnt out church after the fire
The damage is so bad the church may have to be pulled down. The road alongside has been shut.

Going into Town . London Road, Retford
The trees are now well in bloom as few cars are seen in London Road Retford. It's not usual to be as peaceful as this. Is the church up for sale? It's certainly out of use.

Holly Villa in Holly Road
Designed by local architect R Bertram Ogle, this stands out from a number of well built villas on the road. It is dated 1893 in terracotta panels in the central tower http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4699262. Not listed but of local importance. Currently occupied by a day nursery.

Church of St Alban, Retford
A sorry shell of a building. Worship ceased in the early 1990s, followed by an ultimately unsuccessful spell as a local arts community centre, final closure coming in 2003. Although Listed Grade II in 2004, it was ravaged by vandals and theft and in 2008 was burnt out, almost certainly an arson attack. The church was mainly built between 1902 and 1913, to the design of Charles Hodgson Fowler, although the west end was not completed until 1931.
