Doncaster bus passing Town Field
The bus is still carrying the Doncaster Transport name and livery, but the number, 1173, shows that the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive has already taken over the Corporation's buses. It is one of a batch of Daimler buses which received bodies from withdrawn trolleybuses which were only a few years old.
The Town Field pavilion has been replaced by a more modern building.
This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=137652761

Town Fields, Doncaster
This no through road runs behind houses on the busy Thorne Road and - in this picture - the side roads Lawn Avenue and Lawn Road, with the Town Fields themselves to the left as seen here. As such, this has never been a major thoroughfare so separate pavements and excessive signage have never been added, lending the feel of a bygone age to the scene.
