St Margaret's Church, Preston under Scar.
An unusual Church of England building in this small village. In size it is more like a non conformist chapel, the interior is aisleless and the windows are plain glass. A charming little building, but it doesn't even achieve a mention in Pevsner's volume on the North Riding.

St. Margaret's Church, Preston-under-Scar
Unusual Anglican Church in the centre of this village. Very simple and basic in design, more like a chapel - but fits in well with the general ambiance of the community.

Street scene, Preston-under-Scar
A K6 style telephone box is trying to hid behind a bush. In 1935, the Post Office commissioned a new kiosk from Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to celebrate the Jubilee of King George V. The K6 Jubilee Kiosk, as it is known, was similar to the K2 box, being made of cast iron and painted red but was 25% lighter in weight. By the end of the 1930s there were 20,000 K6 telephone boxes in use all over the UK.
