Damaged Benchmark on the wall of Clapham Lodge
Ordnance Survey cut mark benchmark on the lowest brick course, with the datum line evident, but the arrows are obscured by the tarmac on the pavement.
It was recorded on the 1890 OS Map at 120.1ft ASL.

Close Look at the damaged benchmark on the wall of Clapham Lodge
This has taken a battering, from the day it was carved, Leeming Lane got busier and busier, until hundreds of motor vehicles were passing by daily, meanwhile behind the road, the flat field that once belonged to the farm here became an airbase in WW2, and later continued as an operational base for Tornados.
Leeming Lane was eventually bypassed by the A1 & A1M further to the west, allowing the casual benchmark spotter to approach under his own steam and on two wheels.

Air Traffic Control Tower, RAF Leeming
Built in the 1980s, the "Happy Eater" as the tower is known, can be seen from the A1.
