Old milepost
The rusty milepost on Ainderby Road out of Northallerton, B1333, has been painted during summer 2021. The holly hedge has been trimmed back and the verge cleared so now all the raised legends are clear to read.

Old milepost
Milepost surveyed by the Milestone Society. On the B1333, Ainderby Road, Northallerton. Cast by F Mattison of Bedale late 19C or early 20C after the formation of the County Councils. Mattisons, based in Leeming Bar, cast 4 different styles of milepost but there are only two known examples of this one. The other is 2 miles further west, on the village green in Ainderby Steeple, the A684. The mileage to Hawes, hidden by the leaf, is 35.
