Milepost surveyed by the Milestone Society. On the B1333, Ainderby Road, Northallerton. Cast by F Mattison of Bedale late 19C or early 20C after the formation of the County Councils. Mattisons, based in Leeming Bar, cast 4 different styles of milepost but there are only two known examples of this one. The other is 2 miles further west, on the village green in Ainderby Steeple, the A684. The mileage to Hawes, hidden by the leaf, is 35.
