Valley Road
Taken from the junction with Linden road (on the right) and Central Drive (on the left). Houses built in the post-war surge in the early 1950s. The green on the left has two rows of trees that used to line a beck - a paradise for children. This has now been completely covered over. Nanny state?

Linden Road, Northallerton
The flat roofed houses were built in 1950/51, but many have been "improved" by the addition of more waterproof sloping roof. The downside is, one cannot sunbathe on the new roofs. I was born in number 49 and stayed there for the first 18.5 years of my life.

Baptist Church, Valley Road
Now Emmy Jayne's Nursery School. Built by Moody Bros it was opened in 1958 and cost £7,526.3.2d. I used to go to Sunday School here around 1961-62 and recall seeing a tiled bath for full immersion adult baptisms in front of the altar. For more information see http://www.nlbc.org.uk/history.htm . Crosby Road
The houses on the left overlook Mill Hill primary school on the right. The first pair of houses are modern, built upon Moody Bros (brothers) builders' yard. The other houses are much older - built in the days before people owned cars. The road up to the right was once just called "Back Lane" giving access to the rear of the properties and a field ( a childhood play area!). The field has recently been built upon, but the lane is still there.
