A curious building dated 1908. It appears to have the words 'Labour' and 'Wait' inscribed in the stonework and one wonders if it may once have been the local Co-op.

On Front Street in Stanhope, this was built for the Wear Valley Co-op society in 1908. There is a date plaque above the third floor window on the right.
