There is a very clear escarpment along this section of hillside north of Hanging Stone near Annfield Plain. The land is rough grazing only. There is a view of Pontop Pike TV mast in the distance.

View over the pastures beside the railway walk
Looking to the SW from the Consett and Sunderland Railway Path. The location of the old line along the ridge top gives wide views to the west, all the way to the North Pennine moors. The village of Iveston is prominent in the middle distance on its hilltop site.
