Lead miners sculpture at Castleside
This figure of a miner and a tub is at the top of Rowley Bank in Castleside by the side of the A68. It's a lead miner, not a coal miner as might be expected in Co Durham, because the village had a long association with the lead mining industry of the North Pennines.

Rowley Bank is the A68 descending into Castleside. The sculpture is by Brian Brown, the mine tub is real, a restored example from a local lead mine.
