Trees along Hedleyhope Burn, Esh Winning
This stream runs along the east side of the village. Esh Winning, like many Co Durham ex mining villages, is set in the middle of extensive countryside.

Looking towards the junction with Newhouse Road. The houses here look to be a mid C20 estate.

R C church, Esh Winning
This is the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Martyrs at Newhouse, on the eastern edge of the village. Built in 1871 in a traditional Victorian Gothic style. Rather unusual for a Roman Catholic church in Co Durham in my experience.
