Artwork beside the former railway to East Hetton Colliery
This area of ground beside the former mineral railway serving East Hetton (Kelloe) Colliery is dedicated to those who lost their lives winning coal during the mine's working life (1836 - 1983). The stones represent miners coming to and from the mine which is depicted by the steel arch.

Memorial to dead of pit disaster
The monument is to the 74 dead of the Trimdon Grange pit disaster of 16 February 1882 - 69 were killed in an explosion and 5 others (rescuers) by 'after damp'. The memorial is in an isolated position to the east of the village of Kelloe near to Church Kelloe where St. Helen's Church lies. The grave arrangement there is unusual with the church lying below a minor road in what is presumably a graveyard in which most of the gravestones have been relocated to stand beside a wall above the church and below the road. The monument here stands in an open area of grass with scattered trees on the north side of the minor road. It must surely, also have been part of the graveyard or of a separate one, as other individual graves and gravestones remain there.

Colliery Disaster Memorial
Grade II listed gothic style memorial to those who perished in the Trimdon Grange Colliery disaster of 1882. Kelloe (East Hetton) Colliery was a neighbouring colliery of Trimdon Grange, the two villages being only a couple of miles apart. As such several Kelloe men worked at Trimdon Grange and some were among the initial 69 killed in the explosion. A further 5 men from East Hetton Colliery perished underground when attempting rescue (the two mines being linked underground), being overcome by gas. The monument is inscribed with the names of the 26 men and boys buried at Kelloe.

Gravestones at Church Kelloe
Church Kelloe is a location to the east of the village of Kelloe, where St. Helen's Church is located. The grave arrangement here is unusual with the church lying below a minor road in what is presumably a graveyard in which most of the gravestones have been relocated to stand beside a wall above the church and below the road. The open area of grass in the image is on the north side of the minor road; it must surely, also have been part of the graveyard or of a separate one, as the gravestones seen here and other individual stones remain there.

The Davy Lamp at Kelloe
A pub of this name is shown on the first Ordnance Survey map of the 1860's, but this particular building looks much later than that.

Church of St Helen
At the aptly named Church Kelloe. This church dates back in part to the 11th century (the tower and nave) and the rest to the 13th.

St. Helen's Church at Church Kelloe - 2
A change in the appearance of St. Helen's in the year since an earlier image - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6026722. The stonework at the near end of the building can be seen to have been coated with what must be a protecive layer; presumably the whole building has been treated that way. Certainly the south face has, except for the outer faces of the buttresses which still have the original stonework exposed.

St. Helen's Church at Church Kelloe
The attractively set church at Kelloe, dedicated to St. Helen, lies a distance to the north-east of the majority of the housing in the village. The west tower and nave are reported to be of Norman origin - https://historicengland.org.uk/advice/heritage-at-risk/search-register/list-entry/19885. Structural problems have been addressed in 2017 and 2018 with grant aid.
