Footbridge at Finchale Priory
Footbridge spanning the River Wear between Finchale Priory and the steep sides of Cocken Wood. The Weardale Way also crosses here after wandering away, westwards, from the river since leaving Durham. It abandons the waterside again for another two miles - this time to the east.

Bridge at Finchale Priory
The bridge is across the River Wear and is marked on certain maps as having a toll but there's no evidence of that presently. The priory behind the camera position is owned by English Heritage and is in extensive ruins; once it cost money to enter, but it's also free now.
