Rhins of Galloway, hotel?
This is a most unusual hotel, although it's not allowed to be called a hotel, more a B&B. If you ever want an unusual and superior guest house this is it.

Rhins of Galloway Hotel
This building has an interesting history. It was built in 1943 as a canteen for military personnel working on the Cairnryan railway and the formation of the port of Cairnryan. It was gifted by McVitie and Price, the biscuit manufacturers, and opened by the Duchess of Gloucester. The building is constructed of brick and concrete and built on raised foundations. It had its own railway station which was directly opposite, on the west side of the A77. This station was a wooden construction with a shelter.
It was later used as a primary school for Cairnryan.

View north along the A77 from this B&B at the road side. This route is a busy ferry road for those travelling out of Cairnryan with P&O, soon to be joined by the Stena Line in 2011 who are building a new terminal just north of Cairnryan.
