Broughton House and Garden
A National Trust for Scotland property. But beware, a notice outside states open Thursday to Monday (closed Tuesday and Wednesday) during September 12pm to 5pm only. Sadly, we visited outwith the opening hours.

Houses of Kirkcudbright 4
Edward Atkinson Hornel (1864–1933), a Scottish painter of landscapes (especially with children), moved here to Broughton House in 1901, and it continued to be his main residence for the rest of his life. The house and library were subsequently given to the town of Kirkcudbright, and the house is currently administered by the National Trust for Scotland.
