Showing the decorative touches on Image This section of line was opened in 1848 by the Glasgow, Dumfries and Carlisle Railway Company - presumably the bridge was put up then, but we cannot find any information to confirm this.

Pipeband practice disrupted
A pipeband competition is held annually as part of the Annan Riding of the Marches event http://www.annan.org.uk/rom/pipeband_contest.html . The bands warm up beforehand, grouped around the sports field of Annan Academy. In the evening, they perform in the town centre Image . Hilltop House
Ordnance Survey documents indicate that a benchmark levelled at 34.316m above Newlyn Datum was verified in 1974 on the near corner, road face, of the house which is now pebbledashed above a concrete skirt

Development site on west side of Elm Road
The houses on the north side of the site are on the south side of Wood Avenue. Ordnance Survey documents indicate that in 1974 a benchmark levelled at 16.217m above Newlyn Datum was verified on a gatepost (now removed) at the site entrance
