Nestles Factory, Clifton Road, Ashbourne
Taken in June 2006 the picture shows the former Nestles Factory built in 1910. The factory produced Carnation Milk and other canned milk products, employing 117 people before production ceased and the factory closed in 2003. Demolition was completed in 2006, and site amelioration works are currently (Jan 2007) underway to prepare the site for redevelopment. It is intended that the site will be used for housing, light industrial and retail.

Waterside Retail Park, Ashbourne
The water in question is the Henmore Brook, not visible from here. This new retail park is located off Clifton Road to the south-west of Ashbourne town centre. An M&S food hall and a branch of Mountain Warehouse can be seen in this view.

Waterside Retail Park, Ashbourne
Even many small towns can boast a retail park on their outskirts nowadays. They are often blamed for sucking the life out of town centres with many of the big name retailers decamping to these sites. They do, however, generally offer larger stores and plenty of free parking so attract a significant footfall. This new park on the outskirts of Ashbourne is evidently busy on a Saturday in the run up to Christmas.
