Yet more flats
All of these blocks of flats have been built relatively recently. Behind them is a large central courtyard where a limited number of cars can be parked, but I do not think there is enough space for one car for every flat, though I may be mistaken.

The new Lidl takes shape
The store is being built on the land formerly occupied by the Trent Barton Bus garage. Once planning permission was given the ground has been quickly prepared and the steel frame work has been put up rapidly.

The building has become even more ruinous in recent years, losing its pyramidal roof. Image] was taken from almost the same spot 45 years before, with a Kodak Instamatic camera.

Waste ground
This area is where the former bus depot for Trent Barton Buses was, until its demolition. I am surprised it is still derelict land as everywhere else around here has had blocks of flats built.

Derby Friargate Goods Yard Engine House, 1972
This engine house supplied power to the hydraulic lifts and capstans at the Great Northern Railway goods warehouse at Derby Friargate. The goods depot closed in 1967 and the site was soon derelict and overgrown. Stephen Richards’ 2012 photograph shows the Great Northern Road side of the building: Image
