This engine house supplied power to the hydraulic lifts and capstans at the Great Northern Railway goods warehouse at Derby Friargate. The goods depot closed in 1967 and the site was soon derelict and overgrown. Stephen Richards’ 2012 photograph shows the Great Northern Road side of the building: Image
