The path can be muddy
Just behind us on the gate post is a warning that unless you have wellingtons this path may be difficult to walk along.

An unsurfaced farm track
The farm track could be very muddy in wet weather. However as it has not rained for about two weeks the path is fairly dry.

Coming towards us just beyond the gate is a cyclist. He was the first such person we had seen on our walk.

Kedleston Road
The pavement is now only on the right hand side of the road. However that may change as a new housing estate is being constructed on the left side of the road some yards ahead.

Bridleway near Markeaton Stones Farm
Privately maintained path which, according to an information board at the farm may have been the southbound route taken into Derby by Bonnie Prince Charlie and the incarcerated Mary Queen of Scots.

The bridle track
The fields of wheat and sometimes barley look quite healthy considering the small amount of rain we have had over the previous 8 or 9 weeks.
