Bridge No 29 near Stretton, Staffordshire
On the Trent and Mersey Canal Bridge No 29 carries Hillfield Lane between Stretton village centre and the old A38 (now A5121), formerly the Roman road known as Ryknild Street. The bridge holes are still wide. Boats up to a beam of ten feet can still be used as far as Burton (Horninglow) just under two miles ahead. Further west the limit is the standard narrowboat width of seven feet.
