Trent and Mersey Canal at Stretton, Staffordshire
The canal was surveyed in 1758 and fully opened through its 93.5 mile length in 1777. The section through Burton dates from 1770. Bridge No 30 carries Beech Lane between Stretton village and the original A38 (now A5121) which follows the Roman road known as Ryknild Street.
