Still hard at work in 1988 and now in store for Snibston Discovery Centre. The Colliery is flat.

Donisthorpe Colliery steam winding engine.
This was the No. 2 shaft winder. A horizontal duplex with piston valves. Built in c1872 possibly by Appleby Bros of London and rebuilt in 1916/17 by Worsley Mesnes Ironworks Ltd, Wigan. This stopped 1990 and was one of the two final working winders in the country (Sutton Manor being the other).
