Elizabeth Street no more
All that now remains of the street where an ancestor lived in the 1910s is a pile of rubble.

Precision Demolition
A panorama of 3 photos showing how precise the demolition was. The small building in the centre, originally management offices I think, remains practically untouched while the buildings each side of it are just rubble. The only obvious damage I could see was the shelter on the right hand side and a few roof tiles also on the right hand side, presumably damaged by flying masonry. It was the left-hand side of these buildings which initially began to fall, which I assume explains the damage to the roof.

Small pile
... for a big building. The one thing we all said after stopping off to see the results of the Alexander Road flats was how little there was left. The pile there is an entire block of flats. Walked along the grass banking at the side of the road just before taking this picture and had a cloud of dust puff up at every step. Sure glad I don't live near here (there are flats on the opposite side of the road to the demolished flats). It may take a wee while before the dust finally settles!

Dundee Pie Shop
I always make a beeline for these places when I go back home. I love bridies, which are a type of pastie. The bridie is the subject of the Dundee Scots shibboleth Twa bridies, a plen ane an an ingin ane an a. (Two bridies, a plain one and an onion one as well).

Tower block, Hilltown
View from Ann Street, aerial photographs suggest that there was a building between the street and the tower. There was a Levi jeans advert where Dundee stood in for the Soviet Union and featuring tower blocks.
