Ward Foundry, Dundee
This is a large site that was the foundry of J & C Carmichael - founded in 1810 to make steam engines. The closest building is one of the boiler shops. In the midst of the complex is a new build mosque.
The truncated square chimney in the distance is Verdant Works - now a museum.

Former mills, Brown street, Dundee
The closest single storey building is part of Dudhope Works and dates back to 1837. The car park in front is the site of a multi-storey turreted block of 1892 that has been demolished. Beyond it the chimney is part of Tay Works which was built for jute spinning and carpet weaving.

Ward Foundry and mosque, Dundee
The Ward Foundry was established in 1810 by J & C Carmichael to manufacture steam engines. This shows the c1880 new boiler shop with its riveting tower. The foundry closed in 1929 and was subsequently used by D C Thomson for paper storage. It is now in mixed occupancy and includes a mosque in its midst.
This is a fascinating part of Dundee and I wish I had had more than the 2-3 hours I was allowed.
