The more westerly of two mill ponds at Chapel Mill, Usan, Angus
The photo shows the more westerly of two connected mill ponds which, like its partner pond to the east, is now choked with thick vegetation. The pond was originally constructed, like its neighbour to supply water to the corn mill at Chapel Mill. Along with the boiler house, for the commercial production of salt at Fishtown of Usan, the Chapel Mill site, near Mains of Usan, of a disused corn mill provides a rare opportunity in which to study industrial enterprises of the past as the general area is predominately an agricultural one.
