Site of former Johnshaven station, 2002
View eastward from New Road bridge, towards Inverbervie: ex-NBR Montrose - Inverbervie branch. The station was probably behind me: it and the line (parallel to Back Road) were closed to passengers 1/10/51, to goods not until 23/5/66. The track-bed seems to have been restored for recreational purposes.

The bridge carries New Street over the former trackbed of the Montrose to Bervie branch railway. Opened in 1865 the quiet branch line was closed in 1951. Johnshaven station was just on the far side of the bridge.
