Ingress Park, Greenhithe
The High Street in Greenhithe still has the atmosphere of the Victorian tourist resort it once was. At the end of the High Street, a path leads to the Thames and the extensive riverside walk alongside the new development of Ingress Park. This looks away from the riverside path towards Watermans Way.

Greenhithe: Ingress Park & the River Thames
The mosaic is at the riverward end of
Image and shows HMS Worcester which was the ship used by the Thames Nautical Training College whose shore base was at Ingress Park. In the distance upstream is the QEII bridge and you may just be able to make out the guylines fanning out from the two main bridge supports. In the very far distance to the left is the chimney of Littlebrook power station.

HMS Worcester pebble mosaic
To commemorate the association of Ingress Abbey with the Navy this mosaic was laid in a direct line from the abbey to the river. Surrounded by a curved wall and seating area it makes a good place to watch the world sail by.

The riverside at Greenhithe
The riverside at Greenhithe is a pleasant place to be in summer with views upriver to the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge and downriver to Swanscombe and West Thurrock. The adjacent development at Ingress Park makes it a popular promenade. In the distance in this view is the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge carrying southbound traffic from the M25 across the Thames. The oil storage facilities are at Purfleet on the north bank of the river. Beyond the bridge is the chimney of the Littlebrook D Power Station which at 705 feet is the 4th tallest in the United Kingdom.

Here, just a few minutes after high tide, the wash from passing shipping is washing up onto the lower path.

Riverside Walk Flotsam at Greenhithe
The residents of the established properties on Ingress Park and the buildings under construction in the background can do little to combat the daily flotsam that appears with every high tide - but at least it's not on the path yet!
