At the junction of Bourne Road and Thanet Road, this was erected in 1846 and housed at some later date a sunday school. See Image] for Mike Quinn's photo of the inscribed stone. The vegetation on the day prevented me getting a full clear shot. Thanks Mike.

Freemantle Hall Bexley High Street
According to the foundation stone, which was laid 30 August 1894, the freehold land was donated by William Freemantle of Bexley. It transpires this was in 1891. The original cost in 1894, for the building amounted to £1,519. It was used as a Cinema De Luxe when moving pictures become popular. The first film shown was "Around the World in 80 Days" of course that is the silent version, when the charges for admission were 2d. downstairs and princely sum of 4d. for the circle. It's remembered by an older inhabitant that films were shared with a cinema in Bexleyheath, as each reel of film was shown a runner took the film to the other cinema for their showing of the film. http://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/bexley/assets/galleries/bexley/high-st3 provides a picture from 1905.
