Historic narrowboat and Barnton Tunnel, Cheshire
Trent and Mersey Tunnel. This is narrowboat "Tay" has emerged from the east portal of the tunnel, which is 572 yards (523 metres) in length and is narrow, so two boats cannot pass each other in it. Behind Tay can be seen the headlight of another boat in the tunnel. Tay is an original seventy foot long Thomas Clayton tar carrying boat built on a wooden hull in 1938.
