Canada Bridge, Wilmcote, Stratford on Avon Canal
One of the nice things about canals is that with the bridges and locks being numbered, with the right book, it's easy to identify where you are. This is Canada Bridge #60 (don't ask me why it's Canada Bridge), east of Wilmcote on the Stratford Canal. The towpath doesn't go under the bridges on this canal as it does with many. Instead, Joe and t'horse walked around the bridge. That would have meant that the towrope would need to be unhooked at every bridge - a time-consuming job. To avoid this, the bridges have a gap in the middle. The towrope would have been flicked through the gap as Joe walked past with Dobbin. Neat and cheap.
