Doubling up
The line from Coventry to Leamington Spa via Kenilworth used to be double track as far as Gibbet Hill (and thence double again from Kenilworth junction to Leamington). It was however singled from the point visible in the distance during the 1960s and reduced to a freight only line. Today this route is part of the main intercity passenger network and used to capacity so the 2nd track is being re-instated again as far as Gibbet Hill. This picture shows work in progress with the new track in place on the Right and a temporary connection in place for access. The line is closed for a few weeks to allow this work to take place.

Doubling completed
Over the August Bank holiday period the work to re-double the Coventry - Leamington Spa line as far as Gibbet Hill was completed and commissioned. The work commenced almost one year earlier Image was finally completed! (The rubber paved area in the left hand track is a temporary installation to allow road-rail construction vehicles to change from road to rail operation & vice-versa).
