Earthworks at Great Wolford
The earthworks, seen here from the footpath, are scheduled under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979. The brief details given on the English Heritage site are for a moated site but it is now thought that they were defensive. The bridge carries the road between Great Wolford and Little Wolford over Nethercote Brook. Rebuilt in 1995 by Warwickshire County Council, the bridge was embellished for the millennium by carved stones at each end of the bridge giving details of the populations of the two villages.
