Midland Air Museum
Midland Air Museum http://www.midlandairmuseum.co.uk/ was founded in 1967. When I worked as a volunteer here in 1980/81 it was affectionately known as "The Scrap Yard" The place has come on incredibly in 30 years. Thanks to tens of thousands of hours put in by the dedicated volunteers. The Vulcan is the Image

Midland Air Museum - entrance
A treasure store of some of British and foreign aviation gems, the museum was founded by local enthusiasts in 1967; they managed to gather a number of items and aircraft and leased space on Coventry airport. By 1979 the museum achieved a Charitable Trust with Educational Charity status, and in 2008 was awarded Nationally Accredited Museum status. Avro Vulcan B2 XL 360 stands proudly beside the main building, which houses the Sir Frank Whittle Jet Heritage Centre. Both are Coventry linked - Sir Frank being born there and the Vulcan is 'City of Coventry'.

Lockheed Electra L188 Nose Section
The Lockheed Electra was a 1950's vintage four engine turbo prop airliner. Due to a design flaw leading to a number of crashes only 170 of these aircraft were ever built. However the basic airfame was excellent and it was used as the basis for the Orion maritime patrol aircraft, this type had a long and illustrious career with over 750 examples being built in the USA and Japan.
