Boarded Up House, Kenilworth Rd
It is a long time since this building known as Homewood was used as a house and it was a hotel until 1952 when it became the MHA care home. It was a care home for 59 years until recently when a new "Homewood Care Home " was built further along the Kenilworth Rd. As can be seen the old Homewood has been boarded up. The site may be redeveloped but it is in a conservation area. The road is the old A452 which has now been rerouted away from the centre of town and this is now the B4087.
Thanks to John Brightley for the extra information.

The older part of the frontage of this much extended independent school in Kenilworth Road. The buttressed porch is obviously designed to provide an imposing entrance way.

"Hunters Reach"
Eighteen months after the
Image in Kenilworth Road this new block of flats has been built, although judging by the number of "for sale" signs many of the properties are still unsold. The block has been given the name Hunters Reach, although the lack of apostrophe makes the name seem rather meaningless.

Image Developers McCarthy and Stone did have plans to redevelop the site for retirement apartments, but their planning application was refused. Recently it has been announced that there are plans to use the site as an extension to the adjacent Audley Binswood retirement development.

Homewood
Homewood is a Methodist retirement home on Kenilworth Road. This view is looking NW near the traffic light junction with Lillington Avenue. This area of Leamington Spa used to be occupied by large numbers of "Old People's Homes" to use the term at the time. Modern regulations and rising costs have seen many close and undergo conversion to flats.
