These gate piers here are listed grade II (list entry 1381154). The houses behind are also grade II (1381147 & 1381148). They all date from c.1838, although Beauchamp Avenue was laid out c1828-31.

Despite being painted Magnolia these flats appear incongruous among Regency town houses and Victorian villas. A map of 1887 (at old-maps.co.uk) shows a villa called Selwood and its garden. In 1939 it had become Desmond Hotel, being replaced by these flats around 1970.
During the Covid-19 pandemic this stretch of Kenilworth Road became one of the four bus stands following the closure of the Parade to create space for social distancing.
