Despite being painted Magnolia these flats appear incongruous among Regency town houses and Victorian villas. A map of 1887 (at old-maps.co.uk) shows a villa called Selwood and its garden. In 1939 it had become Desmond Hotel, being replaced by these flats around 1970. During the Covid-19 pandemic this stretch of Kenilworth Road became one of the four bus stands following the closure of the Parade to create space for social distancing.
