East side of Riverside House, Milverton Hill, Leamington
The building houses the offices of Warwick District Council, and is seen here from the visitors' car park. It was built for the Leamington Spa Building Society, falling vacant after the society was taken over by the Bradford and Bingley BS, which in turn was subsumed into Abbey National BS before it in turn was absorbed by Santander. The council acquired the building to meet the wish of staff and councillors to have all departments, then in half a dozen premises round the town, in one place. Fine old trees on the site speak of early 19th-century villas, long gone, whose gardens ran down to the banks of the Leam Image The council is pursuing a controversial scheme to sell the site for up-market housing and relocate its offices to the site of Image in the town centre.

The Woodland Tavern
A traditional local in Church Hill, just far enough from the centre of Leamington Spa to have avoided having been converted into a wine bar or trendy "venue".

Colon Hydrotherapy Centre
A rather small building discreetly tucked away in Church Hill. It looks like Santa may have overdone the treatment judging by the figure just visible through the centre doorway!

New sewer access covers, Milverton riverside
In the recent sewer replacement works, this site escaped my notice but it looks very like a smaller version of the storm water relief chamber installed in the Parade Image It releases surface water to the River Leam behind the camera. The bollards prevent vehicles from 'Clubland', right, and the Adelaide Road car park from encroaching on the riverside walk, left, which runs downstream to Prince's Drive. In the background is Riverside House, offices of Warwick District Council, my old employer.
