Leam Terrace East
One of 19th century Leamington's most spacious roads. Houses, mainly on the north side (right) come in all varieties. The Willes Terrace private open space is on the left.

Private open space opposite Willes Terrace
One of three remaining shared private open spaces in Leamington. Until around 1948 Clarendon Square and Christchurch Gardens were communal open spaces open only to residents of the surrounding properties. Some London squares still have this status.

Beaconsfield Street
Looking from the junction with Northcote Street towards Leam Terrace East. This is one of several streets of densely-packed terraced housing between Leam Terrace East and Willes Road. These are neither two-up, two-downs nor are they cheap, judging by the cars parked here on a Saturday afternoon.

Leam Street
One of several streets of densely-packed terraced houses hidden away between the Willes Road and Leam Terrace East. In typical Leamington fashion some of the original plots were not built on but were developed later at different times.

Wall sign in Willes Road
A building in Willes Road (B4099) displaying a 'ghost sign' - a sign-painted advertisement from earlier days. This one reads: "Willes Road cash corn and meal stores" Below that is the word "office" and a finger pointer to the arched doorway to the right. A photo on the Windows on Warwickshire website, dated ca. 1900-1909, of a motorcycle and sidecar, shows the sign in the background. Elephant Walk, Royal Leamington Spa
This slope down to the river just below the Mill Bridge Weir got its name from the practice of Heigler's Equestrian Circus who, in the mid 1800s, used to walk their elephants through the town every day to the river for washing and watering! The Oak Inn
The Oak stands at a prominent Y junction on the east side of leamington where Willes Rd meets Radford Road. How much longer it will remain there is in some doubt as it is closed and boarded up. The sit will probably be redeveloped. The road going off on the right Willes Rd is also the B4099.
