City wall remnant, Upper Well Street
The continuation from the surviving section of the city wall[1] on the other side of Lamb Street is hidden behind the Salvation Army Citadel with the Evening Telegraph buildings beyond. The plaque on the wall tells us that this section was finished in the early 15th century.

Art in the plaza: Ira Aldridge mural by Dreph

Upper Well Street
Looking across Upper Well Street at the former Coventry Evening Telegraph building, now converted to the Telegraph Hotel. The exterior of the building, built in 1960, looks very much as it did when it housed the newspaper offices. The Coventry Evening Telegraph paper became the Coventry Telegraph and moved to smaller premises near the canal basin. Behind the Telegraph is Corporation Village, formerly AXA offices, converted to student accommodation. Many other new blocks of student accommodation have been built in the city centre in recent years.
