The Fob Watch, Butts
In October 1981, this public house had only recently become the Fob Watch, having been the Summerland Tavern up to 1981 (the Butts used to be the Summerland Butts). Some years later it became the Summerland and in 1999, the Butts Retreat ( Image ) - a name it still holds although closed and boarded up at the time of posting this photo.
In the background, left, is Spon Gate House flats, constructed in the early 1960s.

City College Coventry
Also known as Coventry Tech, this impressive building, opened in 1935, also houses the College Theatre. It is to be hoped that it will be preserved when the college moves to its new premises in the Swanswell Learning Quarter.

The Hamptons, Butts Road
Formerly the Summerland Butts public house, its transformation into a bar/restaurant has been unsuccessful in prolonging its commercial use and it was boarded up when photographed in 2021.
