Kirby House, Little Park Street
The early 18th century Kirby House facade in 1982, shortly after rebuilding and construction of adjoining offices. Prior to this it was in a ruinous state after damage during WWII and several years of dereliction. Grade II* listed.

Re-development in Little Park Street
Yet more re-jigging of public spaces in Coventry. Here, the paths across the grassed space in front of the Council offices have been dug up and extensive paving is being laid at the same time as changes to the traffic flow on the street itself.
In the background is the early 18th century frontage of Kirby House and, to the left, part of the mid-twentieth century telephone exchange building.

This is the City: Ticker tape falls on the Mayor
'This is the City' was a parade through the centre of Coventry, which brought together many of the creative groups that had taken part in the 2021 UK City of Culture programme (which had been extended into 2022, after starting late in 2021 owing to the pandemic). The mayor in his shower of ticker tape is passing along Little Park Street outside the 18th century Kirby House.

Kirby House, Little Park Street, Coventry
One of three sublime early-Georgian houses surviving in the city centre. This is in a recognisable provincial Baroque style, very fine, but the pediment above the door pushes awkwardly into the window above and the capitals of the Corinthian pilasters are at mid-storey. It was built c1725, probably to the design of Francis Smith, and altered c1780 (e.g. the paterae above the capitals). Grade II* listed.
At the time it was occupied by a Citizens Advice Bureau.

Kirby House
Kirby House on Little Park Street in Coventry is one of very few Georgian buildings in Coventry. All that remains of this house is the facade and some internal walls at the front. The house is named after Thomas Hulston Kirby, a solicitor who acquired the building in 1874. The building is Grade II* listed, see: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1342916

Spring in Little Park Street
The four horse-ended benches under the new leaf have travelled to several locations around the city centre since the 1960s. They, or ones like them, can be seen in Belgrade Square in 1969 (

In the background, on the right, can be seen Kirby House (18th Century) and the mid-20th century telephone exchange building. On the left are the Magistrates' Court buildings.
