Police station, Little Park Street, Coventry
It looks 1950s. It's certainly pre-1967 as it appears in this photo Image Update: built 1954-57 by Donald Gibson, City Architect. The complex "is the main police station in Coventry and serves as the Operational Command Unit for the city centre. It also houses the West Midlands Police Museum."

Fiery Elias at the police station
A 1927 Foster traction engine parked outside the police station at the junction of Little Park Street and New Union Street. In the background is Greyfriars/Christchurch spire and, to the right, the windows of the telephone exchange. I've no idea why he was parked here - I doubt he'd been speeding. Fiery Elias was the inspiration for ' Trevor the traction engine', a character in the Railway Series of books by Rev. W Awdry a friend of the then owner Rev. Teddy Boston, rector of Cadeby (SK4202) who was also characterised as 'the fat clergyman'. (See also http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/158800 )

Pedestrian subway near New Union Street, Coventry
This footpath leads through the centre of the New Union St / Ringway St Patricks roundabout, past the Martyrs Memorial in the centre of the roundabout, down steps and through the subway seen here out on to New Union Street. Considering it is actually the centre of a roundabout, this area is surprisingly leafy and green.
